How shared services centres are reshaping the legal market and saving firms money

Overview

In recent years, law firms have embraced the use of onshore shared service centres to cut costs and improve efficiency. These centres, which are typically based in low cost markets in the US and the UK, offer firms the ability to reduce staff costs by as much as 30% and real estate costs by as much as 40%.

It is estimated that these savings can add as much as £15m per year, depending on the firm’s size and the range of services migrated to the onshore centre.

This report aims to help firm leaders to develop a business case for a shared services strategy, reviewing the range of setups currently being used by US and UK firms, and evaluating the potential cost savings.
