Equal pay in South Africa – three years on

Overview

Since South Africa's Employment Equity Act was amended three years ago to expand on the principle of 'equal pay for equal work', the application of the law has been regularly tested, mostly at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.  

When the Act was amended on 1 August 2014, three important additions were included in section 6, which deals with the prohibition of unfair discrimination.
