Cloud providers: How the forthcoming GDPR will affect you

Overview

The forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) heralds large-scale change for business, not least for those entities that process personal data on behalf of others.

Known currently as data processors, these entities (now to be known simply as processors), will from 25 May 2018 have to comply with the GDPR where they are processing the personal data of EU citizens. A failure to do so will expose the cloud provider to direct enforcement and potentially large fines imposed by the Information Commissioner.
